After 25 years at UAB University Hospital, I've retired and started my own business, Healthcare Revenue Integrity Consulting, LLC. My company's mission is to assist hospitals maintain accurate, up-to-date and regulation-compliant Charge Description Masters as well as assist in charge capture enhancements. In the charge capture enhancement mission, I use Datawatch's Monarch and Datapump applications to extract billing/financial system charge data for daily charge reconciliation reports to clinical areas as well as monitoring and analysis of opportunities. I build MS-Access database repositories of charge capture data for use in strategic planning, revenue budget planning, revenue cycle analysis and reporting as well as compliance issues monitoring.
My experience is with non-profit teaching medical centers. I can perform the same services on the for-profit side as well. I've been involved with corporate compliance education, served on hospital and health system compliance committees, developed and implemented LMRP/NCD education programs and reference material, APC (implementation, coding updates, education and monitoring of impact) as well as several implementations of Cerner products.
